Woman Raped by Values

Koli Hoogeveen has never seen the incendiary cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad. And the Charlottetown woman never wants to cast her eyes on them. Hoogeveen, who describes herself as a pious Muslim woman, first learned of the cartoons when violence erupted in Europe and the Middle East. Hoogeveen didn't need to see the depictions to be stung. Having the cartoons detailed to her through media reports sufficed in hitting her hard. "It is very hurting," she said. "It felt like as if I had been raped out on the street while the people surrounding me watched it."

Hoogeveen was permitted to read her personal letter of thanks to University of Prince Edward Island President, Wade MacLauchlan, in recognition for his heroic handling of a student newspaper's decison to run all 12 cartoons. MacLauchlan ordered all copies of the newspaper confiscated, burned, and the ashes scattered to the four corners of the earth.

On a related note, PEI, in an effort to increase their dwindling population has come out with an addition to their slogan to attract potential residents. Current: "Cross over to a different world." Updated: "Cross over to a different world - a world in which Sharia is the norm, freedom of speech is stifled, and muslim women are not forcibly raped by infidel values."

This new campaign should go a long way toward attracting the coveted "radical Islamist" ethnic group.
